Overview
Relyance AI is a program used for continuous compliance management, and receiving notifications is an effective way to remain updated on newly discovered insights and data flows.
Relyance scans your integrations daily and can provide a report via email or via in-app notifications on how your data map changes.

These settings allow Relyance AI admins and end users to configure and manage their notifications in Relyance AI.
In-app Notifications
At the top of each Relyance page, you will find the notifications bell, which serves as your notification center for managing notifications.

There are two notification types available: Direct Notifications and Important Notifications.
The number on the bell relates to the direct notifications only.

Direct Notifications
These will contain notifications that are directed toward an end user and require the user's immediate attention and action.
| These notifications include: When someone mentions the end user in an insight. When someone assigns the end user an insight. |
|---|

Important Notifications
These will contain important and relevant notifications for the user but do not require immediate action.
| These notifications include: A list of recently created Insights. Data Flow notifications for vendors or services that the user has subscribed to. |
|---|

Navigating to Notification Preferences
There are 2 types of notification preferences, global defaults and personal preferences. The global defaults are applied to any user who doesn't have their personal preferences set.
Notifications in Relyance can be configured in three (3) different ways:
- Global default notification preferences can be set at the tenant level
- Users can customize their own notification settings in their preferences
- Administrators can edit their end-user's notification settings
Updating the Global Default Notification Preferences
The default global notification preferences will be applied to any users who have not made any profile changes and any new users who are added to the Relyance tenant.
To update the Global Default Notification preferences:
- Login to your administrator Relyance account.
- Navigate to the Settings Menu in the bottom left-hand side.
- Go to the Notification Preferences section.
Updating your Notification Preferences
You can edit you own personal notification preferences as you see fit should you wish to receive specific notifications for data flow or any other updates.
To update the your personal Notification preferences:
- Login to your Relyance account.
- Click on your profile icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select Settings.
- Go to the Notification Preferences section.
These settings, when updated, override the tenant-level defaults.
Updating another user's Notification Preferences
As a Relyance Administrator, you may wish to specify whether or not an end-user gets notifications or selectively specify which notifications and emails to receive.
To update the Global Default Notification preferences:
- Login to your administrator Relyance account.
- Navigate to the Settings Menu in the bottom left-hand side.
- Select Users.
- Select the user in question and edit their profile.
- Scroll down to the Notification Preferences section.
These settings, when updated, override the tenant-level defaults.
Configuring Notification Preferences
This section discusses each of the notification preferences and what they do.
The first section allows users to enable/disable notifications while the following three sections pertain to different sets of notifications.
- Enable Relyance.AI email notifications
- Intelligent Insight Notifications
- Event Notifications
- Data Flow Notifications
Enable Relyance.AI email notifications
This setting enables/disables all email notifications to a user. If not set by the user, the default tenant setting will be used.

Use this setting as an on/off switch for your email notifications.
If you assign yourself a task or DSR (Data Subject Request) within any section, the system will not send an email notification.
Intelligent Insight Notifications
This section allows end users to configure Intelligent Insight related notifications.
Enable Intelligent Insight notifications
This setting enables/disables all Intelligent Insight notifications to a user.

Send me an insight summary
Used to specify the frequency of insight summary digest. It can be sent every day or week.
| An example Intelligent Insights Summary email |
Notify me when an Intelligent Insight is assigned to me
Users managing insights can assign insights to one another. This setting allows an notification to be sent when an insight is assigned.

| An example Intelligent Insights assignment email |
Notify me when someone mentions me
Enabling this will send a notification whenever someone mentions the user in an Intelligent insight comment.

Event Notifications
Whenever a vendor or service is discovered, an event notification is created.
Send a data inventory and map summary
Configure Relyance.AI to send a weekly email summarizing key events for you to stay up to date with your data inventory and map. It can be sent every day or week.

| An example Data Map Summary email |
For users who have already subscribed to the Intelligent Insight summary, these will be included in the same email should the frequency line up (i.e. Daily Insight emails and weekly Data Map summary emails will end up combined once a week).

Data Flow Notifications
This allows end users to opt into notifications if data types or data flows change within specific entities in Relyance (like vendors or services). For example, suppose a user is focused on understanding data type changes for Internal Service A.
In that case, they can select "Internal Service A" from the "Available Services" box to be notified when data types change.
Enable Data Flow Change Notifications
This setting enables/disables all Data Flow notifications to a user.

| An example Data Flow change email |
Select Vendors
These select boxes allow you to configure which vendors you would like to receive data flow notifications for. You will only receive notifications for vendors found in the Selected Vendors box.
Check the vendors you wish to move and use the arrows between the boxes to move them back and forth.
You can also subscribe/unsubscribe to vendor data flow notifications when viewing the vendor ROPA and clicking the vendor menu on the upper top right.

Select Services
These select boxes allow you to configure which services you would like to receive data flow notifications for. You will only receive notifications for services found in the Selected Services box.
Check the services you wish to move and use the arrows between the boxes to move them back and forth.

You can also subscribe/unsubscribe to service data flow notifications when viewing the service ROPA and clicking the service menu on the upper top right.

Appendix: Configuration Example
- Default settings have been configured based on the table below.
- User A hasn't overridden any of their settings.
- User B has overridden their settings.
- User C has overridden their settings.
| Configuration | Enable Relyance AI Notifications | Enable Intelligent Insight Notifications | Intelligent Insight Summary | Intelligent Insight Assignment | Intelligent Insight Comment | Data Flow Notifications |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Default Settings | Checked | Checked | Checked (each day) | Checked | Checked | Unchecked |
| User A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| User B | Checked | Checked | Checked (each week) | Checked | Checked | Checked (Select Vendor A & Service A) |
| User C | Unchecked | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |
In the example above, User A will receive notifications according to the default settings on the "Global Settings" page. User B and User C will receive email notifications according to their configuration. Examples:
- User C won't receive notifications because they have opted out of all Relyance AI email notifications.
- User B will receive an email notification when data types get added for Vendor A, but User A won't receive them.
- User B will receive an Intelligent Insight email digest weekly at 9 AM PT on Mondays. User A will receive an Intelligent Insight email digest daily at 9 AM PT.
