Common System Features
Overview
Below is a description of common system elements and features that are consistent across the platform. These will help you orient yourself to the Relyance platform. Quick links to relevant sections in this article are below:
- Left Navigation Panel
- Platform Filters
- Search Bar
- Admin Icon
- Notification Bell
- Data Validation Banner
Left Navigation Panel
The left navigation panel helps you navigate between the platform’s various modules. You will have access to the modules you subscribed to in your Order Form with Relyance AI.
Filtering in the platform
The gear icon (when available in a module) provides the ability to add different filters to the report you are viewing, allowing you to slice and dice data and customize how it is presented in the platform.
Search Bar
The search bar (when available in a module) enables free-text searching of data elements in the module. For example, users can search for specific vendors by name.
Admin Icons
The following admin icons are available on the top right of the screen in all live modules:
- Refresh icon to refresh your page.
- Information icon which provides links to our support email and privacy notice.
- User icon to manage your user profile and associated settings.
Notification Bell
The Notifications Bell will alert users that there are unresolved Insights in the Relyance platform. The bell is accessible in the top-right corner.
Clicking the Notifications Bell icon will present a notifications panel with a list of all unresolved Insights that the user has not already read, along with how long ago they were detected. You can also see the specific date and time that the Insight was detected by floating over the text showing how long ago it was detected.
The notifications that are presented are user-specific, so if the user has not viewed the Insight notification then it will show up in the list, independent of any other users having viewed it before or which user the Insight may have been assigned to for resolution.
Setting an Insight’s status to “Invalid” or “Resolved” in the Insight’s dashboard will remove it from this list.
Color-Coded Insight Priority
The Insights are color-coded with a small vertical bar that indicates the Priority level of each Insight:
- Blue - Low Priority
- Yellow - Medium Priority
- Red - High Priority
Read And Unread Insights
The list of unresolved Insights can also be made to include both already-read and unread Insights by changing the “Show Unread Only” slider button from its default “on” state to an “off” state. Unread Insights show up in bolded font, whereas already-read Insights show up in normal font.
Notifications Bell States
There are three different states that the Notifications Bell icon can be in:
- No Insights: This state can be presented when there are no unresolved Insights in the system, or when there are unresolved Insights, but they have all been read by the user. The Notifications Bell icon will appear without a number, indicating that there are no notifications for this user, as shown below:

- 1 - 98 Insights: This state can be presented when there are 1 - 98 unresolved Insights that have not been read by the user, or when there are 1 - 98 unresolved Insights, including those Insights that have been read by the user and those that have not. The Notifications Bell icon will appear with a number from 1 - 98 in a red oval badge, indicating the number of notifications that fit the criteria, as shown below:

- 99+ Insights: This state can be presented when there are 99 or more unresolved Insights that have not been read by the user, or when there are 99 or more unresolved Insights, including those Insights that have been read by the user and those that have not. The Notifications Bell icon will show 99+ in a red oval badge, indicating that there are more than 99 or more Insights that fit the criteria, as shown below:

Viewing an Insight
Clicking on an Insight will close the notifications panel and open the relevant Insight dashboard. This will also mark the Insight as having been read. As a result, the number displayed in the Notifications Bell’s badge will be reduced by 1, as long as no new Insights have been detected since the Insight was read.
Removing an Insight
You can remove an Insight from the notifications panel by floating over the Insight and then clicking on the small “X” that appears to the right of the Insight. This removes the Insight from the panel but does not change the Status of the Insight to “Invalid” or “Resolved”.
Reading An Insight
If you view an Insight, it will be marked as Read. You can view an Insight in four ways:
- Clicking on the Insight in the Notifications Panel.
- Navigating to the Insight via the Insights Manager.
- Navigating to the Insight via the Vendor Lifecycle & ROPAs or Internal Services & ROPAs modules using the “View Insight” link
- Clicking on a web-link that takes you to the Insight.
Marking All Insights As Read
All Insights can be marked as read by clicking the “Mark All as Read” link in the notifications panel.
Data Validation Banner
Machine Learning (ML) is at the heart of Relyance AI, and our technology uses ML models to make predictions on data ingested from our customers. Examples include Relyance AI predicting the personal data types from vendor agreements or source code analysis, or predicting the processing activities for a third-party vendor. Our ML models are pre-trained and improve over time as they process new information.
Part of our deployment process includes a data validation phase. When we connect with any new contract or source code repository, Relyance reviews a class of predictions and runs validation jobs to validate the accuracy of these predictions, “learn” from the new data sets, and tweak models as needed. During this validation phase, the data in the platform tends to fluctuate. To increase transparency, the "Data Validation In Progress" banner lets our end users know that validation is in progress and fluctuations in data should be expected.
Examples of how data could change:
- New vendors may be added to the data inventory and map.
- Data types and other associated fields may be updated in the Universal ROPA.
- New data flows may be added to the service map.
- Intelligent Insights may be created or resolved.
The data validation banner will be visible whenever Relyance runs the validation process. This banner will typically appear when:
- A new contract integration is enabled, or a new folder gets added to an existing integration.
- A new source code repository gets integrated with Relyance.
- Both of the above at the same time.
